Circular speed Dating - Circularity, Climate Neutrality and Tox Free Construction

  • Bella Center, Hall E UIA23 Congress 5 Center Boulevard København, 2300 Denmark (map)

How to support circularity, climate neutrality, tox free construction? What are the challenges faced and potential solutions? We invite you to a speed date with us to discuss these topics and get an insight how the challenges are solved in your organization, architecture office or country level. Let’s find a solution together!

To deal with the current environmental challenges, the construction sector must fulfill new building and renovation projects according to the three pillars: circularity, climate neutrality, tox free construction. While climate neutrality is slowly becoming a well-known issue in the planning, permission and construction stages, circularity is still largely unexplored and poses challenges. The challenges can be reduced and a sort of “insurance” for the possible reuse of materials in future can be achieved through tox free construction. This helps to ensure that materials can be safely used again in different constructions without potential chemical hazards to humans or the environment as well as ensures possibility for high quality recycling processes in cases where direct reuse is not possible.

Tone can name clashes between climate neutrality(especially energy efficiency aspect) and circularity, for example - insulation of the basement, fireproofing of exposed timber elements, construction of industrial strength floorings etc. At the Nordic Pavilion, The Project Team will present a poster with typical “hot spots” of a building, where it is not so easy to find construction solutions fitting to all three pillars. The visitors, or so to say the “speed daters” are invited to discuss and sketch their ideas for various typical hot spots. The poster will be gradually filled with ideas for detailing, use of materials and other ideas. Next visitors can comment what has been already discussed and bring in their ideas to the table.

The sessions are formed as short meetings (3 x 15 Minutes) at a round table with 5-6 persons at one time.
