Eskilstuna Energi & Miljö – Rosa påsen

The Swedish town Eskilstuna will be the first in the country to introduce a special garbage bag intended only for old clothes and fabrics. The goal is to halve the amount of textiles in ordinary household waste. Eskilstuna Energi & Miljö started The Pink Bag project to collect textiles. The textiles are placed in a pink bag (Rosa påsen) and thrown in the regular waste to be sorted. Usable clothes go to charity and unusable ones are turned into industrial rags. The project started 2017 and with the pink bag an average of 3.5 kilos of textiles are collected per person per year and around 500 bags per day.
