EcoDesign Sprint is intended for small and medium-sized enterprises interested in developing business and circular economy. It is a strategic and concrete method in which a multidisiplinary team conceives new business opportunities for a client company. The team always includes an expert in the circular economy and a design agency. For design agencies, EcoDesign Sprint is an opportunity to deepen their expertise in design in accordance with the circular economy. The main goal of the programme is to develop the business of a client company, and to create more sustainable products and services. Another goal is to increase the expertise of small and medium-sixed enterprises in design according to the principles of the circular economy.
Design Forum Finland developed the EcoDesign Sprint tool as part of the project EcoDesign Circle: Ecodesign as driver of innovation in the Baltic Sea Region. This project is a three-year development project(2016–2019) partly funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme of the European Union. EcoDesign Circle develops circular economy and related business, research and educational activities through the means of design and design thinking.
As of today, the EcoDesign Sprint tool has been piloted in six client companies and sic design agencies in three of the partnering countries of EcoDesign Circle: Finland, Sweden, and Estonia. The participating businesses and design agencies have found the tool to be good and useful.
