We often talk about reducing and minimising our footprint on the planet. We must remember to turn off the lights and take shorter baths. Attention is paid to limiting, minimising and reducing our footprint.CradlePeople would rather talk about how we can contribute to our surroundings and to a positivefootprint on the environment. In this way we differ from other environmental organisations.
CradlePeople was created in 2009. It is a citizens’ initiative consisting of people who wanted to work morewith cradle-to-cradle design in their daily lives. CradlePeople will build a society model whereenvironment, biodiversity, economy and social values are weighted as a whole. A model where we settlethe score with the consume-and-throw-away culture and convert it to a circular economy. We do not haveto own our smartphones, jeans, cars or kitchens. We have to share, lease and rent, allowing the producersto take ownership of the raw materials. We believe that knowledge sharing is the way forward, and we areexamining the possibilities for systemic changes together with those involved.
Dialogue is a prerequisite for conversion. CradlePeople brings consumers, product designers, suppliers andpoliticians together to talk about fashion, construction, public procurement etc., or to share the goodexamples of initiatives, products, and business models to ensure that raw materials can be reused againand again.
And then we make sure that both big and small initiatives reach the decision-makers’ ears.
